I am Matt Pisciotta,

My grappling journey commenced with wrestling when I was 10 years old. In my first year I did not win a single match in competition but it did not deter me from striving to become better.

I continued wrestling throughout high school where I became a strong competitor through hard work and determination. This did not only bolster my self assurance but also ingrained in me with hard work and effort yields results not only going through the motions during training.

After high school I did not step on a mat for thirteen years. It wasn’t until after Hydra Jiu-Jitsu opened near where I work, I decided to try a class, I was instantly captivated with the sport and the camaraderie at this particular gym.

My primary focus is on the competitive side of the sport.
I am consistently trying to blend both my wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu techniques. Always striving for refinement and supporting my teammates, who do the same for me. I could not have asked for a better group of people to share my journey with.

My sole regret is that it took over a decade to return to the mats.
